I had some fun recently - had a go using flip flaps!!!  I love it!!!!  So, .... I thought I would share some of what I have learnt.

So, this is using the fantastic Jackson Paper, which is great for outdoor photos, masculine photos and I used them here for travel!  The colours in this design just "works" with lots of colours.  PS this is about to go off the market, in fact, the Picture My Life Jackson has already gone! Most of the stock in the Annual Inspirations Book and the Expressions 2 Book are all while stocks last.

But, enough of that.  What did I learn...... number one lesson, I am about to order more paper as I need more for the inside of this design.  So, I popped the photos inside the protector (to come back to it later when I have more paper).  This is a huge advantage using flip flaps as I KNOW when I go back to this page, that I will be able to use ALL my photos.  Using flip flaps mean you can more photos than you usually do and they will all fit on the page.  Also, I like how Madeline (in the video of previous post) used the papers to create a "flow" on the outside and inside of the flip flaps.  It gives continuity, BUT, you have to keep your head.  I didn't do this in the next photo!  Shame!  But I thought I would post it as it serves a good purpose of what not to do.

In the first display I had opened the flip flap and was adding stickers.  BUT, when I closed the flip flap, it exposed half the sticker - it is NOT a good look and I will have to move it.  So, lesson learnt, to be aware of what it will look like when the flap is closed before you add your embellishments!


Another thing I have learnt is to fold back the sticky piece first, before you have even taken off the white covering.  This means you can "hide" the edge when you adhere your flip flap to the page.  It gives a "cleaner" look.  Also if you mat the bottom, then put your flip flap onto the page and then add the photo - the top photo looks like it has been matted as well as the bottom.  The last photo in the next layout I didn't fold it back but adhered it directly to the protector.  It is not as clean BUT it meant that it didn't cover up the writing underneath the photo.

At my last workshop I introduced the idea of flip flaps.  I have come across a fantastic video made by a fellow consultant, Madeline Dunster.  She used the Blossom from the latest Expressions Book both the paper packet and the stickers, plus the flip flaps large assortment and the 4x6 flip flaps.

A little project I have done recently, no photo so I slipped a book in to show off the frame.  That is why you can see the two white supports at the bottom.  I will change it and slip in a photo later....  This is made from the My Creations™ Pennant Frame.  I have cut the wooden look a like on my cricut along with the leaves and roses.  The centres I added with some older roses I already had.  I am selling this as a kit for $18 (minus the centres of the roses and of course photo/book).  Contact me if you would like this by the 20 June.  There will be a small charge for freight if you are out of town.

I am working on an album at the moment using Jackson papers and I have pulled some pages from the Wildwood book to use with the Jackson papers - they work well together.  So, if it is not necessarily you and you prefer traditional scrapbooks, check out the book as a paper source, use the assortments and still get the stamp for free.  It is a very economical way to update your memories!!!

 I found this video from another fellow consultant Melissa Laverty, who is an American Consultant. She has a really good video on what the "My Crush" books are and what can go with it and organising the items to make this really work for you.The prices are different.  So, the books in NZ dollars is $24 and the assortments are $8.  The only different one is the Holiday (Christmas) which is $29 and the matching Assortments $10.  The Assortments are also fantastic for the traditional scrapbooking that I know you all love.  I suspect these books will be going off the market very soon and I know many of you have LOVED these books. Wow, we had a fabulous National Scrapbooking Day - 35 people attended our event.  They did Stamp Layering, Bokeh technique and Resist Embossing. Grace attended the event and cut heaps for customers on the Cricut - she discovered how to make a paw print by using the inside of a number nine!!!  Brenda won the grand prize which was a coverset.  There were numerous other prizes and a whole lot of scrapbooking done.  Thanks everyone for making this such a fabulous event.

Strawberries!!!!

The new Expressions 2 features some lovely strawberries!

I decided to make some of these - there is a "recipe" using the cricut cutting machine.  I used some Paper Fundamentals, cardstock and glue dots.

Well, in the end I cut out over 200 for the local Kidz Conference last month and if you would like to make these attend one of my workshops!!  Kinda fun!!!  They come pre-cut and I have simplified the instructions (for kids) and you will have me as an instructor!!
